How can I use the customize icons in component?

I want to use customize icons in component, How can I do it?

I need to redo the styling for the controls to meet my BA requirements. I've already made a copy of the default css. The problem is that the controls point to a resource file (I'm assuming) in _content. My stylesheet doesn't know what to do with this. The icons are all simply text. How can I completely overwrite the styles with a secondary stylesheet?
